Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Environmental Project Manager based in our either our Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, or Winnipeg office. This is a Full-time role.

This position is ideally suited to an intermediate environmental engineer or environmental scientist. This position will primarily contribute to the execution of environmental investigations, risk assessment and remediation of upstream & midstream oil and gas (e.g., wellsites, batteries, pipelines) in Western Canada.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Managing scope, schedule, and budget for environmental site assessment, remediation, risk assessment, and reclamation projects.

  • Development of strategic proposals and budgets in support of work opportunities.

  • Building strong client-facing relationships.

  • Accountability for project performance and compliance with project delivery expectations.

  • Managing project financials to meet project goals.

  • Technical report writing and review.

  • Driving on-time, high quality deliverables.

  • Working effectively with project teams, clients, regulators, subcontractors and project rights holders and stakeholders.

  • Mentorship of junior project team members.

  • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery and technical problems.

  • Safety leadership including participating in field meetings, overseeing subcontractors, contributing to and following safe work practices, and confidence in exercising stop work authority.

  • Participation in occasional field activities for work oversight and site inspections.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering or environmental sciences disciplines.

  • 4+ years of project management experience including experience with project cost and progress tracking, subcontractor procurement, and contract management.

  • 4+ years of experience in environmental consulting work, such as Phase I and II Environmental Site Investigations and Remediation and project management including subcontractor contract management.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or eligibility to obtain PMP designation.

  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with provincial and federal environmental regulations.

  • Ability to provide professional sign-off on environmental site assessment and remediation reports according to the Alberta Joint Practice Standard (e.g., APEGA, AIA, ASPB) would be considered an asset.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multi-disciplinary teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.

Additional Information

  • Minimal travel may be required in this position. Candidates must be prepared to undertake short duration field assignments typically site visits or inspections.

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $65,000.00 - $82,000.00.
