Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Inspector with experience in earth-moving / civil projects to join our team in Sacramento, CA.

The Senior Inspector will serve as the initial point of contact for supporting contract administration, quality assurance, and inspection at the project site. The Senior Inspector will mentor and supervise junior staff.

Additional responsibilities for the Senior Inspector include:

  • Under minimal direction, relies on extensive experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Reports on work in progress and assures that the construction contractor administers and completes his construction contract in a competent and timely manner in conformance with terms of the contract. This involves quality assurance inspection of the work for acceptability of materials and workmanship, the employing of good construction methods, practices, techniques, and conformance with safety requirements to which the Contractor must review the effectiveness of the construction contractor's Quality Control System. When the construction contractor is not in full compliance with the Quality Control System, the Contractor shall document for corrective action. Attends the construction contractor's preparatory meetings for each definable segment feature of work and ensures that minutes of meetings are documented. Progress reports shall include a minimum of 5 progress photos per day.

  • In connection with required design changes using service changes or differing site conditions, conducts studies or investigations, compiling data as to existing field conditions. Prepares sketches, description of the contract change, cost estimates, and evaluation of impact to the construction progress schedule. Information is promptly furnished to supervisor for final determination. Provides input during preparation of request for proposals for modifications. Provides recommendations to the supervisor regarding acceptance of proposal or the need for issuance of directive to proceed prior to finalization. Advises and assists the Resident Office in negotiations with the construction contractor.

  • Reviews and provides recommendations to the Resident/Project Engineer for approval of contractor's construction progress schedule. Reviews contractor's periodic progress reports to ensure that work is being performed in a timely manner. Confirms the proper storage of approved construction materials and work placed during the reporting period. Prepares monthly progress reports and forwards to the Resident Office. Reports are prepared to indicate scheduled and actual percentages, complete and expected dates of completion related to identifiable causes of delay.

  • Maintains contractor's submittal register for ready review to establish status of material submittals and provides recommendations to the Resident Engineer/Project Engineer office for its review of submittals.

  • Receives preliminary and final plans and specifications during stages of project preparation. Studies plans and specifications to confirm compatibility of field conditions with those indicated on drawings.

  • Observes and adheres to all safety requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Provides on the job training to new employees.

  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma + 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+years of experience in levees, excavations, trenching, material identification, vertical construction, concrete reinforcement, concrete forms, and concrete placement.

Additional Information

  • Company-provided vehicle: The successful hire will be provided a vehicle, complete with a 50-mile daily mileage allowance, which includes gas.

  • This role is a full-time, onsite opportunity. This schedule requires the hire to be onsite Monday - Friday and occasionally on weekends based on project requirements.

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position

  • Relocation support is not available for this role

  • Offered rate of compensation in will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The hourly for this position is $55.28 - $71.15/hr

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $55.28/hour - $71.15/hour.
