Job Description

Reporting to AECOM Construction Director on all logistics matters on Site. Responsible for the preparation and implementation of the Logistics Management Plan (LMP), the gathering of material forecast and consumption data, the preparation of periodic reports for senior management, and the Owner of the Logistics Risk Register. Liaison with other stakeholders including the Construction Supervision Consultant (CSC), Construction Contractors’ Logistics Managers, on logistics, and security interfaces to ensure a consistent and logical approach to Programme wide logistics issues.

The Logistics Construction Director will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of construction logistics for the program. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership abilities and a strong background in construction management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logistics Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive logistics strategies for construction projects, considering factors such as site layout, material handling, transportation, and labor resources.

  • Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate logistics plans into overall project schedules and workflows.

  • Resource Allocation: Optimize the allocation of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential logistics challenges and develop mitigation plans to minimize disruptions and delays during construction activities.

  • Supplier and Vendor Management: Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services in accordance with project requirements.

  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards, implementing best practices to promote a safe and sustainable work environment.

  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics and construction activities, providing regular reports and updates to senior management and project teams.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of construction logistics processes, incorporating feedback and lessons learned from previous projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Logistics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in logistics management within the construction industry (20 years), with a minimum of 10 years in similar a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment, as well as logistical planning and optimization techniques.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.

  • Certification in logistics management, project management, or related fields (e.g., PMP, CSCP) is desirable.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing complex construction logistics projects from inception to completion.
