AECOM is actively seeking a Project Engineer for immediate employment in the Orange, California office. The successful candidate will support the Water Resources Engineering team to complete a variety of projects that involve water/wastewater infrastructure planning, design, and construction and flood control management. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in water resources and civil infrastructure planning and design. The selected candidate will support a wide variety of projects include pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs, dams and levees, water/wastewater treatment plants, hydraulic structures, landfills, storm drainage and treatment BMP facilities, site grading, and engineering support during construction.
The primary responsibilities for this role are expected to include:
Provide a support/deputy role in project management and administration including tracking and managing budget, schedule, and quality of deliverables; writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
Play a support role in business development, client relationships, strategic pursuits, and preparation of proposals, budgets and scopes of work.
Participate on multidisciplinary teams on civil engineering projects in an office environment as well as in a virtual team environment.
Work with project teams that include 10 or more members often representing multiple business lines, working in remote locations and including subcontractors.
Serve as project engineer on small- to mid-sized projects and work on several projects concurrently. Take the lead in evaluation of alternatives and resolution of key technical questions.
Prepare studies, design criteria, design reports, plans and specifications, and quality assurance reviews of related designs and construction plans, and support of construction.
Organize, draft and coordinate production of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation.
Organize, draft and coordinate production of engineering drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy.
Assist with construction support activities to verify compliance with specifications; review and approve submittals; conduct field site visits; resolve technical issues and design changes; review progress versus schedule.
Oversee and direct junior technical staff in field activities including site inspections; instill culture of safety in all employees by promoting and following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in water resources engineering
5+ years' experience in water resources engineering with heavy civil design / modeling
Registered Professional Engineer in CA
Experienced in preparing Construction documents (construction plans and specifications)
Experience preparing feasibility studies and engineering reports
Experience working with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams
Experienced in preparing proposals and presentations
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Powerpoint
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Master’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in water resources engineering
10+ years' experience in water resources engineering with heavy civil design / modeling
California Registered Professional Engineer
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Proficiency with Microstation
Experience with hydrology/hydraulics modeling (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, FLO-2D, WSPG)
Experience with dam inundation modeling/mapping
