Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. has multiple openings in Oakland, California for an Environmental Engineer II.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform field investigations, field construction management, and manage tasks.

  • Work within a team of technical experts to meet clients’ needs.

  • Assist with developing clear and defensible CSMs for complex sites ranging from uplands to contaminated sediments.

  • Evaluate complex environmental data sets, including the use of modeling and statistics.

  • Support remedial technology selection, remedial design and remediation construction.

  • Prepare plans and specifications used for project work plans, budgets, and project investigations.

  • Data visualization and develop clear graphics to convey technical concepts in an understandable manner.

  • Prepare work plans, technical reports, and presentations for technical meetings with clients and regulators.

  • Communicate with the technical team and Project Manager.

  • Assist with proposals including understanding client/project needs and aligned scopes, schedules, and budgets.

  • Conduct surface and subsurface investigations that employ soil borings, test pits, well installations, soil, groundwater, soil vapor sampling, aquifer testing, and surface and sub-surface geophysical surveys.

  • Examine and describe soil samples and interpret geologic and hydrogeological conditions. Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to, local, state and federal regulations.

  • Perform surface and subsurface sampling to determine the presence and extent of contamination in soil and groundwater, and vapor in soil pore-space matrices.

  • Collect soil, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor and ambient air samples for field and laboratory testing.

  • 10-20% travel required within California.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Geological Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in an environmental engineer-related occupation. Position requires:

  1. Managing field activities: soil sampling, groundwater sampling, soil gas sampling, indoor air and ambient air sampling;

  2. Data management and visualization;

  3. Creating clear graphics;

  4. Preparing technical reports, work plans, health and safety plans, and investigation reports using appropriate Regulation standards;

  5. Supporting remedial technology with remedial design and construction;

  6. Evaluating complex environmental data sets and interpreting results by using modeling and statics;

  7. Field Management that includes procuring sub-contractors, laboratories, field equipment, and waste disposal; and

  8. Conducting oversight during environmental investigations that includes field management of sub-contractor including utility clearance, drillers, excavations, well surveying, and construction management.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,053.00 - $141,209.21.
