AECOM Construction Project Manager – NYC SCA in NYC, New York

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager for the New York City office location.

The appropriately qualified applicant will be required to demonstrate an established career in the construction industry with specific examples of subcontractor management on projects ranging in volume from $200,000 to $25 million or more. We operate on various schools all throughout the 5 boroughs.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage day-to-day activities of staff, including Assistant Project Officer (level I and II) and Project Officer (Level I and II)

  • Review the assignments of the Assistant Project Officer (Level I and II) and Project Officer (Level I and II) to ensure that the quality and high standards of contract performance and compliance in both design and construction are met, and the mistakes and errors in design and construction have been corrected before they have been incorporated into the assigned projects

  • Make all relevant decision and take appropriate action in a timely manner to expedite the satisfactory completion of the construction process

  • Assist in the training of the project teams including personnel provided by consulting firms

  • Participates in initial meetings with Board of Education and SCA staff, making recommendations of project approach, scheduling, budget and preliminary layout

  • Supervises field personnel and field technician inspections

  • Resolves issues raised in field reports made by architects, technical inspectors and construction management staff

  • Develops project master schedules and award-based budgets

  • Identifies conditions requiring a contract change: obtains and evaluates proposals from contractors, develops independent cost estimates for the work, negotiates settlements of claims

  • Coordinate project related activities with the SCA and among architects, engineers, construction management firms, general contractors, and government agencies

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university

  • 8 years+ of full-time experience as a technical specialist in one or more construction and design related fields. Four must have been involved managing all phases of construction work on a scale and scope similar to the SCA

  • NY State Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • NY State PE License, registered Architects or candidates with knowledge or experience in government safety or construction standards
