Job Description

AECOM's Environment team in Ontario is looking for an Environmental Engineering . This is a full-time role based out of the Kitchener o ffice to assist in environmental investigation programs and engineering design work packages such as environmental drilling investigation, soil, groundwater, sediment, and soil vapour sampling; monitoring and maintenance of remediation systems, field inspections, and construction field services oversight. The successful candidate will be working within a team of professional staff under the supervision of professional engineers and geoscientists. The position will involve assisting in all aspects of environmental projects with a focus on fieldwork, technical report preparation, and subcontractor coordination.

This position is ideally suited to a junior engineer seeking a mix of field and office responsibilities. Fieldwork locations can vary from local to remote locations on a range of active to decommissioned commercial and industrial sites.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination and preparation for field programs including prep of safe work plans

  • Sample collection of various media (soil, groundwater, soil vapour, etc.) as part of environmental site investigations and confirmation of remediation programs.

  • Oversight of contractors.

  • Data tabulation and data evaluation against provincial and federal environmental requirements

  • Support of Engineering calculations and design.

  • Support of deliverable preparation of reports, specifications, and associated drawings.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to Civil, Chemical, Hydrogeological, and Geological study areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior field sampling or site investigation experience.

  • 1 year of experience in environmental consulting, industry, or regulatory environment versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and/or civil earthworks.

  • Valid Driver’s license.

  • Ontario-based and/or federal client work experience.

  • Experience working under the supervision of a professional engineer.

  • Strong teamwork; able to listen to requirements and work well with others.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving.

  • Possesses good written skills.

  • Ability to learn new tasks.

  • Flexible and hard-working.

  • Willing to travel within the province/country for work.

  • Have a high degree of personal accountability.

  • Looking to build technical skills relevant to the job.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $55,000.00 - $65,000.00.
