AECOM Software Engineer in Greenwood Village, Colorado

Job Summary

This position will provide the candidate with the opportunity for full stack work with a variety of coding languages, platforms, and disciplines. The candidate will work with the team's software engineers, data management and GIS teams, subject matter experts, and clients to design and develop web, desktop, and mobile applications. The position will report to the environment central region software engineering team lead.

Works under direct supervision

  • Must have the aptitude to learn new technical tools required for the role.

  • Follows documented software development standards and approaches.

  • Follows the defined visual style of the application.

  • Develops solutions based upon a defined specification and test plan.

  • Develops software solutions that operate against relational databases including:

  • Relational / object mapping

  • Screen creation

  • Report development

  • Participates in department code reviews.

  • Performs unit testing of their work.

  • Completes work based upon the project schedule.

  • Works with the quality assurance tester to resolve any problems.

  • Participates in team design meetings.

  • Assists in the response to Helpdesk ticket support requests.

  • Continuously trains, adheres and learns from peers within the organization.

  • Assigned tasks are of low complexity.

  • Knows or learns to use the tools required for the job assignment

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent 4-year degree at an accredited university

  • 3-8 years of experience

  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, and time-management skills

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Willingness to explore new subject matters (chemistry, environmental compliance, geology, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate is passionate about designing software from requirements through support with a focus on code quality and best practices such as SOLID principals, has experience with C#, WebAPI, SQL Server, and client JS frameworks (Angular, React, Mithril, etc.), and can thrive in a consulting environment working on multiple projects within budget and schedule constraints.
