AECOM Environmental Planner / Natural Resources Specialist in Germantown, Maryland

The qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate at least 5 years of progressively responsible work in providing NEPA compliance, natural resources management, and environmental permitting consulting services to Federal agencies and other public and private sector clients, as well as strong, positive relationships and reputation within these service area(s). The candidate will have worked on and managed small to large environmental projects of varying size across an array of geographies, and have demonstrated acumen for project management; scope, schedule, and budget control; and preparation of task order and major Federal proposals for these services. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software. The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment.
Coordinate, manage, and direct project field and data collection efforts.
Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables.
Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on projects and through business development initiatives.
Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Heath & Safety within the team.
Provide technical support to the IAP Department and individual Project Managers, and support inter-discplinary business development activiites (cultural resources, natural resources and NEPA services).
Colloborate with other AECOM offices and the nationwide IAP Practice.
Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff.
Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, ecology, natural resources, wetlands management, geology, planning, or an earth science-related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years F/T work experience in related field, preferably NEPA consulting to the DoD and other Federal clients.
Strong experience with NEPA (and Natural/Cultural Resources Management), including ability to manage large and complex projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface successfully with Clients.
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and teams to scope, schedule, and budget.
Solid report writing and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written ( writing sample requested ).
Demonstrated proposal-writing skills, including major and minor Proposals.
Strong working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel, and be fit for duty.
Self-motivated, driven, and hard working.
Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Master’s degree in relevant field
10+ years industry experience
Project management experience
Proposal management experience
Professional certification(s) (e.g., AICP, CEP, PMP, CWB, PWS, PE, etc.).
Good working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and MS Project.
