We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to work with our key Defence clients and further build our successful Construction Services brand in major Defence projects throughout Australia.

The Role

This is your opportunity to step in to a thriving AECOM group as a proven Construction Manager, with a focus on our key Defence projects while making a genuine impact on our major clients.

As a Construction Manager in Defence you will work from our Brisbane office, with potential to work across a variety of major project locations and report directly to the ANZ Defence Director with an ability to lead projects from pre-construction to commissioning.

This is a broad Construction Management role encompassing all stages of the project lifecycle, therefore enabling you to perform in bid development, project delivery and strategic influencing with a variety of stakeholders; from clients to sub-contractors, internal Directors and Executives.

As the successful Construction Manager you will be responsible for current projects and future project pipeline in a broad Defence portfolio, while working closely with clients and sub-contractors in procurement and contract administration.Therefore you will be familiar with the Australian Defence sector and be capable of working in a Managing Contractor framework across major Australian Defence projects.

Minimum Requirements

At AECOM Construction Services we value a passion to deliver work while partnering with our clients to improve and enhance their project delivery frameworks. Therefore, as a successful Construction Manager in Defence you will be familiar with the industry sector, as well as be capable of managing sub-contractors and stakeholders throughout all bid-win-delivery project stages.

A proven Construction Manager will have recent exposure to the Defence sector and a clear ability to operate in a Managing Contractor environment with multiple stakeholders in major projects. Alongside this, it is expected that you will have most or all of the following experience/attributes;

  • Career evidence of working in Construction projects, in a Construction Management or Project Management capacity

  • Prior involvement in leading, winning and delivering project bids, from pre-contract through to delivery and commissioning

  • Strength in delivery of Defence projects, while being able in the bid phase and in bid development

  • A strategic and leadership skillset with a drive to enable and motivate teams and others across project lifecycles, including bid and delivery

  • Provide project management and contract administration assistance to stakeholders and clients across project lifeline

  • Working closely with clients as first point-of-contact on project issues, advice or delivery

  • Drive and organise a Defence project as a key owner and point-of-contact, while mentoring and developing others as a project lead

  • Working closely with, and reporting to the Director and broad AECOM or Construction Services groups

  • Ability to travel interstate where necessary, should a project require it.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Construction or similar

  • Diploma or equivalent in Project Management.
