AECOM Electrical Engineer III in Boston, Massachusetts

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Boston office, who wants to apply their passion and enthusiasm towards exciting and challenging projects supporting the US Army Corps of Engineers for Government Department of Defense Programs and other high profile clients. We help shape the world around us — from complex building designs such as radar and tactical support facilities, administrative, operation and maintenance facilities to large campus style projects.
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Design low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and building services for commercial, institutional, municipal, industrial and military facilities.
Develop electrical plans, elevations, section, details, single line diagrams, wiring schematics, schedules P&IDs and technical specifications.
Coordinate with the project engineers and other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Perform electrical system studies and calculations (load, harmonics, voltage drop, lighting, short circuit, coordination and arc flash)
Perform electrical system calculations using power analytical software packages (Ex. SKM, EDSA, and Easy Power)
Perform electrical systems design including switchgears, switchboards, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, generators, CHP units, transformers, distribution panels, and other electrical distribution systems
Provide design for lighting, fire alarm, telephone, security and grounding systems
Review and coordinate instrumentations, control system process P&IDs, mechanical and HVAC systems and design its related electrical systems
Develop electrical equipment specifications
Review equipment shop drawings
Perform field inspections of electrical systems and attend system startup field activities
Ability to handle design and support of multiple projects at the same time
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
8+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
Registration as registered professional engineer (PE)
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
Ability to obtain US government security clearance
Excellent AutoCAD skills
Ability to work with a diverse team in a fast paced complex environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
Experienced, self-directed professional
Must be a highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Ability to work effectively both independently and collegially; engage in open dialogue with project team, across the organization, and with external providers
Ability to meet quality, schedule and budget expectations
Ability to multi-task and be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing project requirements and deadlines.
Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative and progressive team-oriented work environment
Manage timelines, be proactive and communicate project progress to stakeholders
Highly detail orientated, organizational skills in order to balance and prioritize multiple deliverables
Highly developed analytical skills, excellent critical thinking, and problem solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Experience designing projects for the US Army Corps of Engineers with knowledge of UFC Standards, ProjNet, Scheduling and cost engineering.
LEED Accredited Professional
Design experience with industrial instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems.
Experience with Revit preferred
