AECOM is looking to employ a Civil Engineer to work within our growing Water consulting team in Basingstoke. The candidate will be expected to work in various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects. Key responsibilities will include carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications for water related infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for key local and regional clients.
Design of water and wastewater utilities design including
Gravity and pressurized networks
Treatment works and pump stations
Surface water networks and outfalls
Hydraulics design and calculations using proprietary software packages
Flood and Hydrology modelling and associated civil design.
Work closely and interface with other disciplines in the delivery of engineering design
Support the preparation of technical reports
Carry out site surveys
Delivering tasks assigned to agreed budget, programme and quality.
Support the preparation of project budget & programme.
Specific Skills Required:
You will have an appreciation for the importance of Health and Safety in design and contribute to our positive health and safety culture.
You will have knowledge of one, or all, of the following;
Clean water networks, pump stations, reservoirs and treatment works design.
Waste water networks including gravity systems, rising mains and treatment works design.
Surface water network including gravity networks, pump stations and outfalls.
Flood modelling, Hydrology modelling and drainage strategy design including SuDs
Experience of pressurised pipe and/or gravitational system hydraulic design
Experience in using hydraulic and hydrology design software packages including HecRAS, MicroDrainage, EPASWMM, EPANET etc
It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal skills, using these to develop and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and external clients where required.
Demonstrate sound problem solving skills, accountability for assigned work, and solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using a 3D design tool will be an advantage
You will hold a BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent
You will be working toward being chartered with a relevant institution (e.g ICE or CIWEM)
