The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Typical standards utilized are FDOT Plans Preparation and indexes, and Specifications from Local Municipalities

  • Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities

  • Typical projects will range from milling and resurfacing existing roadways, to full redesign of an existing two-lane road to a four-lane divided facility

  • Duties may also include alternative alignment and criteria development for study documents

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives as it relates to typical section geometry, pavement design, and vertical and horizontal alignments

  • Prepare engineering related calculations, develop construction drawings, development of alternative alignments, and visual aids

  • Work on a wide range of projects and tasks and assist with field research, data collection, data analysis, graphics, maps, and data presentation, report development, construction plan development, and post design efforts

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering or other related fields

  • 4 + years of experience in roadway or similar transportation projects

  • Capable of using a spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software

  • Knowledge and experience in industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as of Civil 3D/AutoCAD, Microstation, AdICPR)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Florida Professional Engineer License or can obtain within 6 months of employment.
