Job Description

Our Environment team helps private and public sector clients in New Zealand and around the world, deliver for their stakeholders while achieving compliance, promoting resilience and reducing, or eliminating, impacts and risks to our communities and our natural environment. What will a day in this role look like?

  • Planning, organising, executing, and reporting on contaminated site investigations for projects of varying size and complexity for clients across different industries.

  • Preparing reports, participating in field work, liaising with subcontractors, communicating with clients, preparing tenders, and promoting innovative solutions for clients.

  • Undertaking project management responsibilities such us invoicing, financial tracking and client delivery.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, or earth science

  • A minimum of 5 years contaminated land experience within a consultancy, council, or similar environment

  • Demonstrated experience in contaminated land management, environmental site assessments (preliminary and detailed site investigations) and remediation

  • Strong field skills including experience sampling and monitoring a variety of media, including soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapour, indoor air, including the willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in cities and rural locations across New Zealand

  • Experience logging soil bores and installing groundwater monitoring wells via a variety of drilling methods

  • Ability to supervise and oversee field teams and subcontractors

  • Detailed technical understanding of current legislation and guidelines, and their practical application

  • Strong report writing skills, including the ability to evaluate chemical and physio-chemical parameters, evaluate nature and extent of contamination, and draw conclusions

  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, be adaptable and flexible, and contribute individually and within a team environment to the success of our projects

  • A valid full drivers’ licence is essential
