AECOM has an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer supporting our program in Annapolis Junction, MD. The selected candidate will provide project integration support for numerous construction projects in addition to providing direct support to the client’s Power, Space, and Cooling (PSC) initiative. This individual will collect and analyze large amounts of PSC data. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities performed by the Engineering Technician Teams. Coordinate the process and required documentation to perform field surveys including, but not limited to, Electrical Working Notifications (EWNs), Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on campus wide Arc Flash reports, and Virtual Outages (VO). Assist with coordinating and scheduling surveys, inspections, and walkthroughs of the existing electrical system. Utilize field collected single lines and load analysis to compile Engineering Flow Impacts and Executive Summaries as part of the Electrical Engineering Reviews. Provide current and historical electrical infrastructure knowledge to PSC engineers and construction teams. Work with customers to gather and analyze critical information and review engineering plans. Provide data collection review and oversight for temporary installed metering and SCADA data. Review and provide QA/QC on all Electrical Reports. Analyze and provide the client feedback regarding the operation and condition of primary substations, feeders, buildings, SUS, and major UPS systems annually, along with any other infrastructure equipment upon request. Conduct power quality analysis, equipment root cause failure analysis, and energy efficiency analysis as requested by the client. Maintain a thorough understanding of AutoCAD technology and application. Complete AutoCAD drawing updates. Regularly communicate and provide feedback to the client regarding changes, concerns, and status of the electrical infrastructure. This position is roughly 30% field work/70% office work and is primarily located around the Annapolis Junction area.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of electrical infrastructure design development, analysis or review tasks under some supervision.

  • Perform analysis on existing equipment using metering data.

  • Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review.

  • Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.

  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in process design and review meetings.

  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.

  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.

  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

  • Conduct site visits and investigate engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related scientific field.

  • 3 years of related experience.

  • Outstanding communication and analytical skills; strong knowledge of computer systems with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications.

  • Prior experience with electrical infrastructure analysis or electrical system design.

  • Position may require travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active, fully adjudicated TS/SCI w/poly is preferred.

  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.

  • Familiarity with interpreting building codes, NEC specifications, and construction design drawings

  • Field data collection and analysis skills with emphasis on Amprobe and Dranetz metering devices.

  • Strong people skills including experience communicating directly with client personnel.

  • Demonstrated technical writing capabilities.

  • Experience with Power Systems.

  • Experience performing arc-flash calculations.

  • An understanding of SCADA systems and Capacity Management Systems.

  • E.I.T. certification
