Job Description

AECOM Middle East are currently seeking an experienced Senior Associate - Structures, to join our design studio, based in the UAE.

The Senior Associate would provide structural engineering services with a focus on steelwork and complex structures. Experience in repair and rehabilitation of constructed works, investigation, and performance evaluation is advantageous. The Associate Structural Engineer will be responsible for conducting structural design, overseeing, and reviewing analyses, and design calculations; managing the preparation of drawings and specifications; mentoring junior staff; overseeing project budgets and schedules; liaising with clients; and preparing technical reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be responsible for the successful delivery of steel and concrete structures, including production of technical reports, written calculations, design briefs, specifications, drawings, schedules, contract documentation and the like.

  • Responsible for ensuring technical quality, coordination, integrity, cost effectiveness of designs produced.

  • Follow design guidelines, standards, and procedures to effectively execute assigned work.

  • Interface with other members of the design and management team on multiple discipline projects.

  • Prepare and adhere to assigned budgets and schedules, integrate team efforts, review work, set priorities, identify, and resolve issues in a timely manner and communicate status to the Project Manager.

  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals.

  • Technical supervision of project designated junior Engineers and BIM teams in the execution of their duties.

  • Mentor junior members of staff and assist to promote career development within AECOM.

Requirements:

  • 14+ year's experience, with the last 3-5 within a senior position / associate level.

  • Detailed knowledge of design techniques and analysis methods.

  • Detailed knowledge of the theory, content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable, namely AISC 341, AISC 358, ASCE 41, ACI codes.

  • Knowledgeable in project coordination and execution skills.

  • Understanding and supporting company goals and work processes.

Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society.

  • Strong command of structural analysis software such as Staad Pro and the CSI family.

  • Additional experience with other software packages such as Robot is a plus.

  • Expertise in scripting and parametric design is advantageous.
